Careers Coach Sarah Jones

I am an experienced Careers Coach and Study Preparation Tutor working with young people between the age of 7 and 19 years old. I have over 21-years experience of working within the UK and international education sector, including positions as Admissions Tutor at Russell Group and non-Russell group universities - like Cardiff University, at independent schools -Cardiff Sixth Form College, as well as overseas as a Native English Teacher, as an education consultant with a leading agency (Hong Kong) and as an independent admissions consultant in Asia. I have travelled all over Asia, for work and leisure, and lived in Hong Kong (7+ years) and Thailand (1 year).

A few facts about me - "Miss Sarah"

  • In the United Kingdom, Career Guidance is very important: there are eight benchmarks that schools need to meet, as well as six learning areas that all practitioners use to support and prepare young people for their future.

  • I studied the highest career guidance qualification available - a Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance and Development and recently qualified as a Registered Practitioner.

  • I have been a member of the Careers Development Institute in the United Kingdom since 2018.

  • I did my postgraduate education in - 'Education'!

  • I have been trained in all manner of things related to admissions, including understanding global qualifications and identifying fraudulent certificates - by the government service, UK Naric.

  • By 2013, I read an estimated 60,000 personal statements and made decisions on tens of thousands of applications for higher education!

  • I love creative writing, arts and crafts, running and travelling!

  • I am one of five children and have one niece and five nephews!
